Today, Sony revealed a new game (or feature?) for the Playstation 3, It's called "Playstation Home".
What it is is basicly a virtual world where you create your own avatar and walk around, play games, socialize etc. Complete with personal apartments, public hangouts etc. Similar to the Lobby in Phantasy Star Universe (not in all ways), or more like Second Life. Im willing to bet they got the idea from Second Life to.
So what other features does it have besides playing little games like pool and walking around aimlessly. You can share videos and pictures, invite users to play on a game online and customize your avatar. There is also built in voice chat.
Playstation Home will be free to download and play. Shocking, I know, considering it seems like you have to pay for everything you do when it comes to online capabilities on consoles. Of course they are still going to be trying to get money out of you for it. Clothes and accessorys will cost money and you will have to endure "dynamic ingame advertisments". Possibly other things will cost money to.
The game will be released to the masses sometime this fall, but if you want to get your hands on it before then, you can participate in the beta next month (April)
Heres a picture of it:
