Today, Pokemon Battle Revolution for the Wii has launched. Not only is this game the first Pokemon game for the Wii, but it is also the first online Wii game in North America and the first Wii game to have DS connectivity.
First, the online play. There will be 2 main modes of play. One being able to battle with your friends, and the other being randomly matched up against players of similar skill level. For competing against your friends, you will first have to exchange friend codes. Afterwards, all you have to do is log in to Nintendo WiFi Connection and battle! If you just want to play random people though, you can have the game auto search for someone of similar skill level to you.
There are a number of battle modes to choose from also. Which includes Colosseum mode, where players can face off in 10 different colosseums, and DS battle mode, where you not only use your DS to play, but you use your pokemon from your DS games (Pokemon Diamond and Pearl).
"Already more than 2 million copies of Pokémon Diamond and Pokémon Pearl have sold in the United States alone," says George Harrison, Nintendo of America's senior vice president of marketing and corporate communications. "The arrival of Pokémon Battle Revolution brings those players a whole new set of challenges and, for the first time on Wii, online battles."
Trainers are also fully customizable, allowing you to create your very own personal avatar (no word on using your Miis however...).
If you've been itching to finally try some Wii games online, the chance has finally come. Go pick up Pokemon Battle Revolution now before they're all gone! Or, you can wait for our upcomming review and see how it is.
