This is Matt "AC" Benoit here and the Microsoft conference just wrapped up a few minutes ago and this is our article covering all the PC news in the Xbox 360-helmed conference.
Shane Kim starts off the PC section of the conference announcing the family friendly hit, Viva Pinata, you guess it is coming to PC.
He then announces Gears of War for the PC, and chuckles while admitting the company's failing to keep it a secret, what secret? Anybody been on GameTrailers lately?
Joking aside Kim introduces Cliffy B. who shows off Gears:
1.Gears now features new achievments exclusive to PC-Players
2.Games for Windows-LIVE support, Cross-Platform play not mentioned
3. New Chapters
4.Game editor
5.A new Boss, the Brumak, and plenty of extra content
Interestingly enough the feed doesn't actually let you see Clif until he's about to leave, and you can't tell if they used a 360 controller or mouse/keyboard for the demo he played.
Peter Moore than comes on stage and announces:
1.More than 10 million gamers have switched to Vista
2.More than 60 titles will carry the Games for Windows branding so far
3.12 of those will be GFW-LIVE enabled, including GoW
4.Another big nugget is the fact that the Unreal Engine will ship with GFW-LIVE support, allowing developers and purchasers of the Unreal Engine to add in GFW-LIVE support with a minor few keystrokes
5.Peter Moore then unveils a montage of new GFW games*Some have already been announced*;
Flight Simulator
Thrillville: Off the Rails
Bee Movie Game
HellGate London
Age of Empires 3: Asian Dynasties
Strangle Hold
Gears of War
Bioshock
Universe at war: Earth Assault
Blacksite: Area|51
World in Conflict
Age of Conan
Kane and Lynch:Dead Men
Company of Heros expansion pack
Juiced Hot:Import Nights
Viva Pinata
Spider Man:Friend or Foe
And that's pretty much it for us PC Gamers, the last thing featured is a Xbox 360 demo of Call of Duty 4, which also happens to be coming out on the PC and will most likely feature completely equal/better graphics.
That's it for now, we'll be bringing you as much PC info this week as we can.
*Update* We've rewatched the conference to get the details we missed, turns out Gears does NOT have Cross-platform play, but will also be on Windows XP.Tags
