Nintendo has sent out a brand new system update for the Wii. Nothing too groundbreaking it seems, but its a nice little update. The update makes some small changes to the menu and also revamps the shop channel interface.
First the menu. So far it seems that they have changed 3 things. The first being that they have added a clock, which is nice. The clock is a simple digital one that sits where that empty space [used to be..] is. The second change is the icons for the empty channel spaces. You know, the rounded square thingys that are all over the menu. The empty ones now, instead of just saying Wii, they now have a little static animation going on. The third change is in the message board. The envelopes for messages are now of a much lighter shade.
The Wii Chop Channel looks loads different now. When you load up the shop channel, you are now presented with 4 "Recommended Titles", and a little box that shows some of the latest updates to the Shop channel. After that everything is pretty similar, until you go into the Virtual Console section. There, rather than being presented with links to each of the consoles games, you are instead presented with 4 buttons. "Popular Titles", "Newest Additions", "Search by Category" and "Enter a Game Title". "Popular Titles" leads you to a list of the most frequently downloaded titles, as the name suggests. "Newest Additions" leads you to a list of newly added titles. "Search by Category" leads you to another small menu, allowing you to browse games by their system, genre or publisher. And finally "Enter a Game Title" lets you simply type in the name of the game your looking for and searches for it.
There you have it, all the known changes to the Wii in this update. Now go download it!
