The makers of World of Warcraft and Call of Duty - Blizzard and Activision, are merging to create "the world's most profitable games business". This deal will be worth 18.8 billion dollars.

This new merged business will have the very creative name of Activision Blizzard, with Activisions current CEO being the chief executive. Vivendi (the current owners of Blizzard) will however be the largest shareholder.

This is exciting news, it'll be great to see what kind of new games result from Blizzard and Activisions combined might.
